What a year it has been! The recovery after her surgery went much faster then we expected. There were those days that seemed to take years to pass. What kind of days? Oh like the ones where she wanted to walk rather then ride in her stroller. Or there were the days where she didn't want to sleep by herself rather she wanted to come lay in bed with us.
We look back at those days now and they can still bring tears to our eyes. We are so very grateful for so many people from her doctors to my online support groups. Our neighbors and our family. Everyone has pitched in to help make her recovery a full one.
We are grateful for each moment that we have Daisy and her brothers . They have such a short time on this earth with us. When they eat, play, and often when they sleep I just look at them and think of how lucky I am to call them mine.
Give your pets a hug. Tell them and show them how much they mean to you.
Below are photos and video's from 1/15/2009. They are from the day before Daisy Mae's one year anniversary. On her one year anniversary she will get brushed, she will get walked, and she will get some stinky tripe as a treat. She will get smothered with our love!
For those of you who have Verizon or Dish Network you can see Daisy on the show Natural Companions. The episode she is in is called Inside Out. Check your local listings and let me know if you see the show!

March 6th 2009 ~
This was a scary week for us and Daisy Mae. We had been on a vacation and had Daisy boarding with friends and family with her housemates while we were gone. With travel days it was 10 days. The night they got home to us all seemed fine but within 24 hours things went down hill fast. She threw up once and had two bouts with diarrhea. We got her over to our vet who gave her sub q fluids as well as two meds to help her recover.
That night we woke up with her at midnight and she was in so much pain that she could not walk and she was shivering with fever. We went straight to the Emergency Animal Clinic. She had two ex rays taken as well as a CBC to see what was going on. The only thing we are told they didn't do but probably should have is check for pancreatitus. Anyway. She had Gastroenteritis and this can kill a small dog in 24 hours. We left her there to get IV fluids as well as mini meals and rest with meds. We were not able to pick her up until 8:00 pm the next night because when we went to go visit her she was still rather lethargic.
She is home now and resting. We continue her meds as well as mini meals with water added. I hope that she will be back to herself by next week.
She's a fighter. And we will continue to fight with her.
