Well the day is almopste here. She will get her nearly 20 stitches out tomorrow and we are so excited! She has been doing GREAT! We took her off of all of her supplements after her rsurgery and knock on wood she has not needed any of them. She goes potty like a big girl outside and has not had any pee pee issues to date.
We hope this will bring a new chapter to Daisy Mae;s life where she no longer has to be on meds or have pain.
Here is her area the day before and after surgery. Will post photos after her stitches are out as well.

Hello and Happy Fall to you all! Boy it sure has cooled off fast! Here in Texas, this week, we are 10 degrees below normal!
I wanted to let you all know that I have been busy making Snuggle Sacks and my new fun creation, Mini Brag Books. Be sure to check them all out and come back often to see new selections!
Daisy will be having surgery on October the 19th. As many of you know her entire life has been plagued by illness and mishaps. We had her spay at a very early age and in hindsight wish we had not. Remember, Daisy has really been a dog that teaches us to look outside the box and to know our choices. Well, she has an "innie". Her vagina sits within some fat and skin so when she goes potty, some of the urine will just sit in that area. I clean her often, it is something she is totally used to. However she is still often battling a UTI or crystals or worse yet, stones.
The surgery she will have will cut out the fat and some of the skin so that her vagina gets full air, like a normal dog should. We have some friends who did this surgery on their young dachshund a couple of years back and they had great success. We hope with all of our heart to have the same results with Daisy.
I can imagine a day where she is not licking or irritated, where she is not on antibiotics or some other concoction to help her feel comfortable.
She will have some discomfort right after the surgery but she will hopefully have zero complications and heal up fast!
Below are photos of our friends dog before right after and healed.

Starting the 17th Daisy will start getting massages at home.
She has a tech she loves when she goes to get her acupuncture. We call her Miss Sarah. Well Miss Sarah is also an animal communicator. It's a lot of fun to hear what she says Daisy is telling her.
Anyway I digress.
Starting next week Miss Sarah will come to our house. We will then go to acupuncture every other month. We are hopeful that this will work out. We think Daisy will enjoy her time with Miss Sarah in our own home. And it will actually cost a little less then the acupuncture so we too are hopeful it will be enough.
It's heating up here in North Texas. I finally got a Furminator. A friend was kind enough to send me hers! It works wonders folks! Wonders! I vaccuum up much less hair and their baths took half the time! I think they are all enjoying the weather more because of it as well, it's much cooler with out all of that extra fur on them! Give it a try. We had a generic one that did not wrok as well......

Some of you are aware that at the end of April my husband and I took a well deserved vacation. To be honest I think so many of us deserve one and never seem to find the time! We found the time , it was 8 days long and we got to visit my parents too. We had a wonderful time and were very much ready to get home to our friends and family in Texas and our babies too! Yes that means the pets!
Piper,Nugget, Daisy Mae and Duke spent half of their own little vacation at our vets Dr. Neeman and then the second half at grandma and grandpa's aka Shannon's parent's! My in laws were kind enough to make the 45 minutes drive to bring my kids home to me! I was so tired and so happy to get kisses from them all. We slept hard that Sunday night.
When we woke Daisy had some soft stool. Not to be nasty but it was like soft serve ice cream. Later that day she had a second soft stool and the next day a vomit. We got her in to our other favorite vet who is local and had a fill in vet that day. He gave her sub q fluids and directed us to give mild food. He had run a fecal smear from the sample I brought in and said she had gastroenteritis, too much bacteria in the gut. He said it was a good thing we had gotten her in since this can kill a small dog in 24 hours.
Wow was that a wake up call! She didn't really seem that sick.
That night I woke around midnight to her burning up and shivering. When Shannon put her down to go out and potty she could not even walk. She was painful. I checked her back (you knew that would be the first thing I would check) and all seemed well there but her gut seemed painful. The the Emergency Animal Clinic we went! We got there in about 10 minutes. She was so hot. Well they took her temp and she had a fever. We were not sure what was going on since she was so painful so we went ahead and took two ex rays as well as ran a full blood panel also known as a CBC. All looked good thank goodness. They gave her some pain medications as well as IV fluids. We did not get to pick her up until 8 pm the following day. It broke my heart to not have her with us.
The point of me telling you this story? Yes, there is one. I want to make sure all of you who have dogs small enough to fit in a Snuggle Sack are aware how fast they can go downhill. I'm not kidding when I tell you that the day before she really looked fine. And the vets told us this could have been brought on by one of two things. Eating something she was not used to, or stress. I am assured that she did not eat anything so the mere stress of us being away and her being in unfamiliar surroundings almost killed here!
So watch your fur babies close and know that Shannon and I will not be taking any long trips in Daisy's lifetime and when we leave for events, we will have a house sitter come stay at our home!
