Stitches on their way out!

Posted at 12:05 PM on November 04, 2009

Well the day is almopste here. She will get her nearly 20 stitches out tomorrow and we are so excited! She has been doing GREAT! We took her off of all of her supplements after her rsurgery and knock on wood she has not needed any of them. She goes potty like a big girl outside and has not had any pee pee issues to date.

We hope this will bring a new chapter to Daisy Mae;s life where she no longer has to be on meds or have pain.

Here is her area the day before and after surgery. Will post photos after her stitches are out as well.

A Tah ~ Tah Tuck!

Daisy Mae had her surgery yesterday and is doing just fine.

The boys also had dentals, also doing fine.

Many of you know Daisy has had health issues her entire life. We thought that her bladder stones, urinary tract infections and vaginitues were a result from her vaccine reactions since they all seemed to start around the same time.

However, we also noticed that her vagina set in like an inny belly button.

Well we decided it was time to give Daisy another chance at health and had her in surgery yesterday. Her vet whom we all adore removed the fat and skin from around her vagina. It not has 20 stitches in it and while it looks horrible because of the stitches, it looks wonderful and we are hopeful this will take care of those issues.

This week will be long with her recovery. I will post photos once her stitches are out in 2 weeks.

Stay warm~

A new surgery for Daisy

Posted at 10:32 AM on September 17, 2009

Hello and Happy Fall to you all! Boy it sure has cooled off fast! Here in Texas, this week, we are 10 degrees below normal!

I wanted to let you all know that I have been busy making Snuggle Sacks and my new fun creation, Mini Brag Books. Be sure to check them all out and come back often to see new selections!

Daisy will be having surgery on October the 19th. As many of you know her entire life has been plagued by illness and mishaps. We had her spay at a very early age and in hindsight wish we had not. Remember, Daisy has really been a dog that teaches us to look outside the box and to know our choices. Well, she has an "innie". Her vagina sits within some fat and skin so when she goes potty, some of the urine will just sit in that area. I clean her often, it is something she is totally used to. However she is still often battling a UTI or crystals or worse yet, stones.

The surgery she will have will cut out the fat and some of the skin so that her vagina gets full air, like a normal dog should. We have some friends who did this surgery on their young dachshund a couple of years back and they had great success. We hope with all of our heart to have the same results with Daisy.

I can imagine a day where she is not licking or irritated, where she is not on antibiotics or some other concoction to help her feel comfortable.

She will have some discomfort right after the surgery but she will hopefully have zero complications and heal up fast!

Below are photos of our friends dog before right after and healed.

Massage at home!

Posted at 12:35 PM on June 13, 2009

Starting the 17th Daisy will start getting massages at home.

She has a tech she loves when she goes to get her acupuncture. We call her Miss Sarah. Well Miss Sarah is also an animal communicator. It's a lot of fun to hear what she says Daisy is telling her.

Anyway I digress.

Starting next week Miss Sarah will come to our house. We will then go to acupuncture every other month. We are hopeful that this will work out. We think Daisy will enjoy her time with Miss Sarah in our own home. And it will actually cost a little less then the acupuncture so we too are hopeful it will be enough.

It's heating up here in North Texas. I finally got a Furminator. A friend was kind enough to send me hers! It works wonders folks! Wonders! I vaccuum up much less hair and their baths took half the time! I think they are all enjoying the weather more because of it as well, it's much cooler with out all of that extra fur on them! Give it a try. We had a generic one that did not wrok as well......

Another Daisy Scare

She sure keeps us on our toes!

Last night we went for our regular around the neighborhood walk. We were not even hlaf way done when she began to limp. She kept holding her left front paw up and so I did my normal check her out routine! Check the paw, clear! Check the leg, clear! Check the back (which is always so scary to do) clear!!

I carried her the rest of the walk and we did not let her walk for the rest of the evening. When we went to bed we gave her a low dose pain pill.

She fell asleep right away and we were hopeful this morning. However when she got up to give me kisses I could tell she did not want to put any pressure on that leg.

Off to the Emergency Clinic we went. They checked her with a full physical and determined that it is a soft tissue injury.

We are not sure how it happened but we have her on pain meds and hope that with rest she will once again make a full recovery.

Getting loads of new items!!

Posted at 01:09 PM on April 09, 2009

We are getting ready for our all time favorite event in Buda Texas! The wiener races!! This event is not only fun to watch but a lot of fun to shop at as well!! There are tons of vendors with so many fun dog and dachshund items!

We have ordered a few fun items to bring with us this year to sell. We hope that if you are in the area you will stop by and say hello. And if you can not make it to the event we will post photos as soon as we get back and unpacked.

We will not be bringing any of the kids with us this year. You may remember that last year we brought Daisy Mae with us as I was not ready to leave her behind. she did great at the event but did not want to eat and so we left the event a day early.

This year we will have a house sitter with them all and we hope this will resolve any stress issues while we are gone. We don't need any sick pups!!

Be sure to check out our current selections often as we have added a few cards, magnets and will be adding human socks and metal yard art soon!

We continue to grow!

Posted at 02:32 PM on April 02, 2009

We have decided to add a section just for the humans! I know it may seem silly to some but every now and then we deserve a super cute gift too!! Right now we will offer just a few of each item until we see what you all like the most. And shhhhh here's a little secret! We have socks on the way too!!

Be sure to come back often and please send your friends!

New photo format

Posted at 02:03 PM on March 26, 2009

I decided to start taking the Snuggle Sack photos in a new format. I now open the top of the Snuggle Sack just a tad so you can see the inside color as well!! I know you can see the color along the ties but I wanted to make sure you really got to see the whole Snuggle Sack!

If you ever want more photos of a particular Snuggle Sack please by all means use the contact me  button and ask!!

Daisy Mae update for the month of March

Posted at 12:57 PM on March 25, 2009
  • Some of you are aware that at the end of April my husband and I took a well deserved vacation. To be honest I think so many of us deserve one and never seem to find the time! We found the time , it was 8 days long and we got to visit my parents too. We had a wonderful time and were very much ready to get home to our friends and family in Texas and our babies too! Yes that means the pets!

  •  Piper,Nugget, Daisy Mae and Duke spent half of their own little vacation at our vets Dr. Neeman and then the second half at grandma and grandpa's aka Shannon's parent's! My in laws were kind enough to make the 45 minutes drive to bring my kids home to me! I was so tired and so happy to get kisses from them all. We slept hard that Sunday night.

  •  When we woke Daisy had some soft stool. Not to be nasty but it was like soft serve ice cream. Later that day she had a second soft stool and the next day a vomit. We got her in to our other favorite vet who is local and had a fill in vet that day. He gave her sub q fluids and directed us to give mild food. He had run a fecal smear from the sample I brought in and said she had gastroenteritis, too much bacteria in the gut. He said it was a good thing we had gotten her in since this can kill a small dog in 24 hours.

  • Wow was that a wake up call! She didn't really seem that sick.

  • That night I woke around midnight to her burning up and shivering. When Shannon put her down to go out and potty she could not even walk. She was painful. I checked her back (you knew that would be the first thing I would check) and all seemed well there but her gut seemed painful. The the Emergency Animal Clinic we went! We got there in about 10 minutes. She was so hot. Well they took her temp and she had a fever. We were not sure what was going on since she was so painful so we went ahead and took two ex rays as well as ran a full blood panel also known as a CBC. All looked good thank goodness. They gave her some pain medications as well as IV fluids. We did not get to pick her up until 8 pm the following day. It broke my heart to not have her with us.

  • The point of me telling you this story? Yes, there is one. I want to make sure all of you who have dogs small enough to fit in a Snuggle Sack are aware how fast they can go downhill. I'm not kidding when I tell you that the day before she really looked fine. And the vets told us this could have been brought on by one of two things. Eating something she was not used to, or stress. I am assured that she did not eat anything so the mere stress of us being away and her being in unfamiliar surroundings almost killed here!

  •  So watch your fur babies close and know that Shannon and I will not be taking any long trips in Daisy's lifetime and when we leave for events, we will have a house sitter come stay at our home!
